Second Class Weekend

It was a whirlwind weekend, but what a fabulous opportunity for 2C Parents.  Thursday evening kicked off with a Homecoming pep rally in T-Court.  Friday we attended classes with our mids, ate lunch in King Hall, and had the rare opportunity to visit our mid's room.  Hockey, football, and dinner with friends and other parents rounded out a great weekend!

After 2 days of meetings with other Parents club Presidents, we had formed some relationships, and had been advised on several topics that are relevant to our club.  Then, like the Dendler’s, we really enjoyed our time at 2/C Parents weekend.  Our Mid had secretly spent the last 9wks qualifying for a sailing certification that allowed her to take us sailing on the USNA’s 26ft. sailboats.  On boat #19 we sailed around the harbor on Saturday morning.  We also toured the USS Alexandria SSN 757, a fast attack submarine on Sunday morning.  There was no headroom for Bill – but he was able to survive the tour. A local 5th Co. Parent hosted a well attended get together for the company.  It was great for establishing a network and accumulating contact information.  I have to say, one of my favorite moments was, walking to Baileys Atmospheric Thermodynamics class, through the Bio-Metric lab in the basement of Rickover  Hall,– the facial recognition software on a flat screen estimated my demeanor as “Happy”, and my age at “17yrs (+/-10yrs)”.  Well of course, after seeing that my maximum age calculates to age 27, how could I be anything but happy?
