Kevin Bonneau Bell

MIDN Kevin Bonneau Bell

Kevin is a history major who will, upon commissioning, receive a service assignment in Naval Aviation and report for flight training at NAS Pensacola. Kevin is now serving as Company Commander for 30th Company and has been named to the Commandant’s List.

Kevin is a member of the Academy’s varsity water polo team, and has earned 4 varsity letters. During his career, the Navy team won three conference championships and earned three berths in the NCAA national collegiate water polo final four.

Kevin is a graduate of Naperville Central High School, where was elected captain of the football, swimming, and water polo teams and received all-conference football recognition, all-state recognition in swimming and water polo, and all-American recognition in swimming.  He was named “Illinois Boys’ Swimmer of the Year” in 2006.

Kevin is grateful to the Naval Academy for its excellent academic programs, its world-class faculty, and the unmatched leadership opportunities it affords midshipmen.  But most of all, he appreciates the lifelong friends he’s made from all parts of the country and every imaginable background.

Kevin is the son of Jody Bonneau and Jeff Bell of Naperville, IL.

Daniel DeMatteo

MIDN Daniel R. DeMatteo

Daniel is assigned to 11th Company where he served as drill sergeant during his second class year, and currently serves as squad leader. Daniel worked as a detailer for plebe summer, 2009.

He is earning a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture.Upon graduation, May 28, 2010 Dan will be commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy and begin service aboard the USS Mobile Bay (CG-53), San Diego, California.

Daniel is the son of Bob and Peg DeMatteo of Orland Park, IL.

Brian DeYoung MIDN Brian DeYoung

For his leadership duties, Brian is currently serving as a squad leader for the 30th Company. He also served as a squad leader as part of the cadre during plebe summer.

For his first summer, Brian was on a destroyer, the USS LABOON (DDG 58), which he met in Germany for its return to Norfolk from the Black Sea. Then his YP experience that same summer took him up the east coast from Annapolis to New York and Boston. For his second summer he joined another YP which performed exercises out of Norfolk. He also completed the PROTRAMID series based in locations along the east coast. For his last summer Brian joined an amphibious assault ship, the USS WASP (LHD 1), stationed in Norfolk before undertaking his squad leader duties for the cadre.

He has enjoyed being on the wrestling team all four years.

His service selection is Navy NFO and Brian is looking forward to reporting to Pensacola for flight training.

Brian is the son of Bill and Barb DeYoung of Lake Forest, IL.

Brad Erickson

MIDN Brad Erickson

Brad will graduate in May 2010 with a B.S. (Political Science) degree. He made the Superintendent's List six times.

He earned his third varsity letter as a member of the (undefeated for 4 years) USNA Sprint Football Team - earning honorable mention all conference team in fall 2009.

Brad is a member of the 15th Company and is the Company Training Officer.

His Summer Tours included assignments out of Pearl Harbor, off the coast of Florida, NOLS in Alaska, and Little Creek, VA.

As for Service Selection, Brad will be going to the SEALs in Coronado, CA upon graduation.

Brad is the son of Steve and Sally Erickson of Lake Forest, IL.

Jessica Germano MIDN Jessica C. Germano

Jessica Germano is a member of the 23rd Company of the Brigade of Midshipman. She will graduate from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Political Science. She has been a member of the Commandant and Superintendent lists. At the end of her Second Class year, she was one of five Midshipmen selected to study in Germany for a month.

Jessica has been service selected Navy – Pilot. She hopes to fly the Navy’s F-18 Hornet. After commissioning she will be TAD to the Political Science department at the Naval Academy and will class up in the Fall of 2010 at Pensacola Naval Air Station.

During her time at the Naval Academy she has served as a squad leader, training cadre for Sea Trials for two years in a row, 23rd Company Alcohol and Drug Advisor and 5th Battalion Honors Advisor. She has been a member of Operation Information in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Her summer training blocks have included cruises on the USS Nimitz in the Persian Gulf and a humanitarian relief effort in Chennai, India. She has also served aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. She has had the opportunity to fly on the EA-6B Prowler, the AH-1W Cobra, and the F-18 Hornet. She has also been with a Marine Ground Unit and on a nuclear submarine.

During her time at the Naval Academy she participated in Women’s Rugby, Women’s Golf, Co-ed Softball, and successfully completed two Marine Corps Marathons.

When asked about her time at the Naval Academy, Jessica said, “I have had some of my worst days and best days at the Naval Academy. These are some of the best people I have ever met.”

Laura Martindale MIDN Laura Ann Martindale

Laura Ann Martindale, 28th Company, will graduate with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in English and a minor in Russian.

While at the Academy, she was President of the Russian Studies Club, a Midshipman Group Study Program (MGSP) Leader, and a Writing Center Tutor. She also held multiple leadership positions within her company including Squad Leader, Platoon Commander, and Academics Officer.

As part of her Russian Studies Program and her summer training, she attended the Language Study Abroad Program (LSAP) in Vladimir, Russia, studied for a semester at St. Petersburg State University, and completed an internship at the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Her service selection is Nuclear Surface Warfare, and she will be reporting to the USS Preble, a destroyer based in San Diego, in June 2010. 

Laura is the daughter of Dave and Mary Martindale of Roselle, IL.

William McClellan

MIDN William R. McClellan

Bill will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations and Arabic. His academic achievements include making both the Superintendent’s and Commandant’s list.

He was a letter winning member of Varsity Sprint Football that compiled a 23 and 1 record over four years. The Sprint Football Team won 3 CFSL undefeated Championships in a row.

His summer tours included TAD USS Curtis Wilbur – Yokosuka Japan, US Representative to the Royal Regiment of Canada, Delegate to the United Nations, TAD – Two Troop SEAL Team Two, TAD – Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit Six, Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Internship – Israel and NOLS Winter Survival School - Alaska.

Upon graduation from the Naval Academy Bill will report in July to Coronado, CA to begin his Navy SEAL training – BUDS.

Bill is the son of Bob and Debbie McClellan of Tinley Park, IL.

Andrew Metcalf

MIDN Andrew J. Metcalf

Andrew is graduating with a BS in Political Science (International Relations) and a minor in Spanish.

Andrew has had many interesting and fulfilling experiences through summer training and studies at the Naval Academy.  His summer training opportunities included a month aboard the USS Dubuque (LPD-8) 3/c year and another month aboard Strike Fighter Squadron 125 (VFA-125) 1/c year. He also participated in Weapons Detail and Plebe Summer 2009 as a squad leader. He was on the Superintendent’s List for 3 semesters and is a member of the Phi Sigma Iota language honor society.  Also, he served his company as First Sergeant during his 2/C year. Andrew studied abroad at the Spanish Naval Academy (Escuela Naval Militar) for fall semester 2009.

Andrew is currently attending Georgetown University as a part of USNA's Voluntary Graduate Education Program (VGEP). In December 2010, he will graduate from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service with a Master's Degree in Security Studies.

Andrew was selected for the Naval Aviation program as a pilot. 

Andrew is the son of Patrice and Jim Metcalf of Woodridge, IL and has a sister, Allison and brother, Patrick.

Jason Murphy

MIDN Jason C. Murphy

First Class Midshipman Jason C. Murphy is majoring in Naval Architecture and is a Trident Scholar. He has been on the Superintendent’s List 3 times and also on the Dean’s List 3 times.

Jason has held various positions in the 19th Company including 1st Sergeant, Plebe Summer Company XO and Company XO.

Jason will be leaving for Quantico, VA upon graduation as he begins his officer training as a Marine Aviator.

Jason is the son of Joel and Diane Murphy of Oswego, IL.

Mariel Pletcher

MIDN Mariel Pletcher

Mariel C. Pletcher is assigned to the frigate USS Ingram (Everett, Washington).

Her major is physics.

Both semesters of her Firstie year she served as AT officer for her battalion.

She was a member of women's crew for 3 years, lettering as a Youngster. This year she is a member or the Jujitsu sports club. She has been a member of Catholic Choir for 4 years.

Mariel is the daughter of Dan and Annette Pletcher of Orland Park, IL.

Alex Tidei MIDN Alex J. Tidei

Alex will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Alex service selected Navy Pilot and will report to Pensacola for flight training later this summer.

Alex’s experience during his four years at the Naval Academy has been very interesting and has taken him around the world.

His summer training assignments have included a 3/c cruise aboard the USS Essex (LHD-2) in the South Pacific in which he visited Japan and Australia. For his 1/c cruise, he spent a month with Strike Fighter Squadron 81 (VFA-81) in Oceana, VA. He also participated in Plebe Summer Weapons Detail and CSNTS sailing. Alex was a squad leader in his company 2/c year, and served as Company Operations Officer and squad leader his 1/c year. 

Alex is a member of the Navy Hockey team where he is a goalie as well as team president. 

Alex service selected Navy Pilot and will report to Pensacola for flight training later this summer.

Alex is the son of Joe and Cindy Tidei of Park Ridge, IL.
